Installation, Registration and Upgrade

I've purchased SimpleMovieX but I haven't received my registration code.

It normally takes one to ten minutes for the purchase to be processed and the email message with your registration code to be sent. The most common reasons for not receiving the message are:

In any case, if you haven't received your code within one hour of the purchase, contact us.

I'm not satisfied with your software. How can I get a refund?

If after purchasing SimpleMovieX you do not feel satisfied, we give your money back.
SimpleMovieX Refund Policy is: 30 days full refund, no question asked.

Kagi logo "You can request a refund within 30 days of the purchase by sending an email to refund@kagi.com. Please include the transaction information in the email and explain why you are requesting a refund. When we initiate a refund, we will send an email to both you and the product supplier. We notify the product supplier to give the supplier the opportunity to resolve the reason for your refund request. Refund requests that have not been resolved within 2 weeks are processed and, for credit card purchases, the refund should then appear on your credit card statement."

As Product Supplier, we don't ask any question and just accept the refund.
Your money will be charged back in a few days.

I'm a registered user of SimpleMovieX. How do I get the free upgrade?

Registered users of SimpleMovieX version 2 can upgrade for free to version 3. Indeed, they can also upgrade for free to future versions 4 and more, because instead of a regular code they have a "Golden Pass".

To get your "Golden Pass", check first that your version 2 of SimpleMovieX is registered. If a "Get Now" button appears at the bottom of the window, your copy is not registered. Registered users just have to download the new version, install it and launch it. The first window has a button "Golden Pass" that sends an email to Aero Quartet. A few minutes later you will receive an email message with the "Golden Pass" code. Just enter it in the registration form and you have upgraded to version 3.

My hard drive crashed and I've lost my registration info. Can you resend it?

This kind of unfortunate stuff happens. We will resend your lost code if you send us an email with your name and postal address. Of course, the date of purchase and invoice number would make it easier for us to find your record, but we understand that this information is probably lost. Name and postal address (at the time of purchase, of course) should be enough. Resending the code can take up to 24 hours.

SimpleMovieX has stopped working. It quits before I can do anything.

During the development of version 3, several beta versions were released to the public. I had the not-so-great idea to put an expiration date to the software. After this date, the software doesn't work, it quits before you can do anything. The solution is to download the latest version and install it. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Is SimpleMovieX a Universal Application that runs on an Intel machine?

Yes! (Version 2.8.1 runs also on Intel machines, but through Rosetta emulation mode)

Editing and Saving

I can only export 30 seconds of my movie.

Export in WMV format is limited to 30 seconds if you use the free Flip4Mac codec. This limitation comes from the codec itself, not from SimpleMovieX. Flip4Mac charges around 30$ for the codec with unlimited encoding time.

I want to add a soundtrack to my still images, but when I paste the mp3 file into the movie, it just makes it longer, not putting sound and picture together.

To put sound and picture together, you should not use Paste, but Add instead. When you paste a sequence into a movie, it makes it longer. But when you add a sequence, it just puts existing and new tracks (audio and video) together.

Adding a sound track on a sequence of still images will create a slideshow.

Can I rotate video?

SimpleMovieX is able to rotate videos by 90 degrees in both directions. Once rotated, the movie can be saved in QuickTime format (.mov file extension)

How do I get rid of recovered movies?

SimpleMovieX has an "Autorecovery" feature. It can be disabled from the Preferences window. If one or several documents are opening every time you launch the application, and you don't want to see them again, you should close them all, then quit the application. The next time you launch it, the recovered documents have disappeared.

The key thing here is to quit from SimpleMovieX without crashing it. If you keep crashing, the recovered documents will appear again and again. In this case, the only solution is to delete the folder called ~/Library/Caches/SimpleMovieX, where ~ stands for your home directory.

I get error 888 during audio extraction.

Error 888 appears at the end of audio extraction process in case of failure. You should try again the last action (usually creating Audio Waveform or Exporting MPEG to other formats). If the problem persists, quit and relaunch SimpleMovieX and try again. If you keep getting the error message, contact us.

SimpleMovieX crashes during saving. Am I doing something wrong?

No, probably not. Saving is the most critical and error-prone action in SimpleMovieX. Despite our efforts to make it very reliable, you can still have bad surprises. Our recommendation is to try to save your work in a "safer" format, like QuickTime mov or RefMovie. Then, contact us explaining the problem in details and we'll try to fix it in next version of the software.

Version 2.8.1

We haven't removed yet the plug on old version support. We recommend to upgrade to version 3, it's free for registered users.
